ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
🤯 OpenAI releases "GPT-6 Astra"

ChatGPT released "GPT-6 Astra," its new flagship model, which the company says is its most capable to date at using a computer, writing code, and handling professional work.
Astra is built to do the work rather than just answer questions: it can operate your apps, produce finished documents and slide decks, build websites, and handle multistep tasks with less hand-holding.
With Astra, you can:
Hand off tedious admin: Fill out online forms, update client records, organize your calendar, or research something and drop a summary into your email or doc.
Get finished decks and documents: Give it your template and it produces slides, spreadsheets, and reports that match your layout and writing style. OpenAI says this is its best model yet at following existing templates.
Build 3D scenes and games: In demos, Astra models a house in Blender and turns it into a walkable Unreal Engine 5 scene, and builds playable games from a prompt.
Launch a website from a prompt: Through Sites in ChatGPT, it can create, host, and share websites and web apps, then test that everything works.
Give it a vague brief: When instructions are unclear, Astra makes sensible assumptions on small things and only stops to ask when the answer would change the result. It also holds onto your original request better when you change direction mid-task.
OpenAI says Astra completes computer tasks roughly twice as fast as its previous model, and calls it the company's most capable and most trustworthy model to date.
GPT-6 Astra has rolled out to all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.

VIDEO EDITING
🤖 DaVinci Resolve releases "AI Assistants"

Editing a video in DaVinci Resolve using Claude
DaVinci Resolve released “Version 21.1," an update that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT control parts of the editing software directly, alongside expanded still photography support and 100+ new tools for editors and colorists.
DaVinci Resolve is Blackmagic's all-in-one editing, color grading, VFX, and audio app, and the main free alternative to Premiere Pro.

Setting up AI Assistants in DaVinci Resolve
The AI integration is the headline: instead of one-off AI tools for masking or transcription, you can now hand an assistant a task in plain language and let it work through the app.
With the new AI assistant support, you can ask Claude, Claude Code, or ChatGPT Codex to:
Build highlight edits: Point it at long-form footage and have it pull selects into a rough cut, or strip out unwanted clips.
Organize media: Sort and structure bins without clicking through everything yourself.
Adjust project settings: Change parameters by describing what you want.
Batch render deliverables: Queue up multiple versions and let the assistant handle the render jobs.
Also in the update: tethered camera control for Fujifilm, Leica, and Sony on the Photo page, multicam shortcuts for up to 25 angles, over 25 new Fusion shape and 3D tools, and subtitle support plus comment replies in Cloud Presentations.

🎨 Shopify acquires “Tailwind Labs”

Shopify is acquiring “Tailwind Labs,” the company behind Tailwind CSS, with founder Adam Wathan announcing that Tailwind is joining Shopify to give the framework a "stable long-term home."
Tailwind CSS is a free, open-source framework for styling websites. Instead of writing custom CSS, you apply small pre-made classes directly in your HTML.
It's installed 110+ million times a week and powers the interfaces of ChatGPT, X, Reddit, Cloudflare, and Shopify itself.
Shopify has been building with Tailwind internally and for its merchants since 2021, and Wathan says the framework will now be developed in service of a real product, with storefronts, checkout, and Shopify's admin tools as the testing ground.
What this means for you:
Tailwind CSS stays free and open source: Nothing changes with the framework or any of Tailwind Labs' other projects. Everything remains MIT-licensed, and the same team will continue to lead and maintain it with Shopify's backing.
Paid products are closing to new customers: Tailwind Labs will no longer grow its commercial business. Existing customers keep access to Tailwind Plus and ui.sh, but sign-ups for new customers are closing so the team can focus on the framework.
Shopify gets a stake in the frontend stack: Wathan notes Shopify is exploring where interfaces go next with "agentic commerce," suggesting Tailwind may shape how AI-driven shopping experiences get built.
Wathan started Tailwind over nine years ago as a personal tool for building his own interfaces. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
