OpenAI Verify is a public verification tool that lets anyone check whether an uploaded image was generated by an OpenAI product such as ChatGPT, the OpenAI API, Sora, or Codex. It works by reading provenance signals embedded in the image — including C2PA Content Credentials and SynthID watermarks — that show where the content came from. Released as part of OpenAI's broader content provenance push, alongside their seat on the C2PA Steering Committee.
