Common questions about Grok
Grok's text API now accepts a guidelines array on Chat Completions and Responses requests to control how it handles nsfw, violence and profanity. The only supported behavior is decline; omitted categories keep the model's default moderation.
Guidelines apply only to the request carrying them, so send them on every request in a conversation.
They aren't supported with multi-agent models such as grok-4.20-multi-agent or deferred completions.…
Grok's grok-voice-transcribe-1.0 speech-to-text model is deprecated and reaches end of life on October 2, 2026.
All requests to that model name are routed to grok-voice-transcribe-2.0 at the same price. xAI says the newer model has higher accuracy. You can make the switch explicit by setting model=grok-voice-transcribe-2.0.
