What is OpenDesign Motion?

OpenDesign Motion is a motion-design workflow on open-design.ai/motion, inside OpenDesign from the nexu-io/open-design project. The page calls it an open-source Claude Motion alternative. You bring a logo, screenshots, images, and brand notes, describe the video, and an agent drafts it.

You can then change text, colors, layout, scene length, and timing, and you keep an editable source project as well as the exported video. The motion page names Claude Code and Codex. OpenDesign’s repository supports more local agents; this page does not say that every one of them runs Motion.

Version 0.25.0, dated October 15, 2026, added Motion in the app with five bundled examples: Motion Future, Product Promo, Showreel, UI Morph, and Visual Lesson. Video requests produce editable source and a playable MP4. Interactive animations stay runnable HTML.

The public motion page, promoted on October 29, 2026, offers a download of OpenDesign and a separate demo request. It does not publish a Motion-only subscription. Its comparisons (a studio film at $30,000 versus $1, three weeks versus one minute, five people versus one person, and “1/10 the cost”) are on the page, and the FAQ says cost and time are not guaranteed.

OpenDesign’s pricing page says Free has no recurring model-credit grant and supports a local CLI plus your own provider key. Paid Plus, Pro, and Max plans include model credits, and Team and Enterprise are listed. Dollar amounts on that page can change, so they are not copied here.

The GitHub project is Apache-2.0.
