The Shopify mobile app for iOS and Android has a new native design. Marvin Schwaibold, design director at Shopify, posted it on October 30, 2026 and called it the biggest design facelift the app has had.

Schwaibold's post says the rebuild ships smoother gestures, more consistent interactions, fluid animations, and haptics, together in a new native design system. He says more is coming, and that the team rebuilt one of Shopify's largest apps while keeping merchants moving.…

Shopify now checks barcodes against the GS1 registry and suggests which ones to mark as GTINs, the globally unique numbers behind most retail barcodes.

New barcodes registered with GS1 are marked as GTIN automatically. Saved Custom barcodes get a suggestion you can accept or dismiss, including in bulk from the products and inventory editors.

Shopify is moving variant editing onto the product page, with the rest of your product details still in view.

You can search, filter, and group variants by option, switch between detail and table views, and bulk edit fields such as price and shipping.

Merchants on Plus and higher plans can activate it in Test Drives ahead of automatic opt-in on December 12. The gradual rollout to all merchants starts in December, with no setup needed.

Shopify now lets you waive an order's payable balance from the payment card on its order page. You can remove an existing waived amount there too.

Staff need the new Waive order balances Admin permission, enabled by default for high-privilege roles such as Store admin. Waived balances appear where applicable in customer accounts, checkout, and email notifications.

Shopify Messaging now supports WhatsApp marketing automations. You can start with templates for abandoned browse, abandoned cart and abandoned checkout, or add WhatsApp to your own automations.

Set them up under Messaging Automations in the Shopify admin. By default, messages go only to customers subscribed to marketing on that channel. Pricing varies by channel.

Shopify Analytics has bubble maps for seeing where your orders and sales are concentrated. Nearby shipping or billing addresses form bubbles sized by a metric you choose, such as orders or total sales. You can zoom, pan, or click a bubble to look closer.

Open the Order hotspots by shipping location report, or add Shipping address or Billing address to a report. Bubble maps work in reports and dashboard cards for everyone with access to Analytics reports.

Shopify's Sidekick can draft a storefront change and compare it with your current store using AI-simulated shoppers. You review the suggestion before deciding whether to apply it.

Sidekick selects theme changes that are expected to affect add-to-cart behavior. These comparisons use simulated shoppers, not real customers or live A/B tests.

Shopify POS can recognize eligible shoppers who previously checked out at a store using Shopify Payments. When they choose a digital receipt through Shop, email, or text and share their details, the purchase connects to a customer profile in your customer list.

This requires POS v11.17, Shopify Payments for POS, and Shopify Network Intelligence enabled in admin. A buyer-facing display needs Customer View v11.17 or later.…

Shopify says search is significantly faster in its redesigned desktop admin. You can search admin pages, resources, settings, and installed apps from the same place.

Once the updated search is available for your store, open it with command+k on Mac or control+k on Windows.

Shopify's new channel mapping page lets you preview and control the product data each sales channel receives.

You can change where fields such as titles, images, categories, and colors get their values, or combine sources to include a brand in a listing title. Mapping changes apply to every product on that channel, with overrides available for individual products.
