AI video editor for Mac. Describe the edit and your own Claude Code or Codex cuts it on a real timeline you can still edit by hand. Footage stays on the Mac. $99 one-time.

About octuedit

octuedit is an AI video editor for Mac, made and sold by Octupie Technologies Private Limited. You drop in footage and describe the edit in plain words, and your own Claude Code or Codex makes the cuts on a real multi-track timeline you can still adjust by hand. It is built for podcasts, talking head videos, explainers, tutorials, and short form clips.

Import clips into a project on your Mac. octuedit prepares them locally: it transcribes the speech, detects shots, and makes everything searchable. You then describe the edit in chat, the way you would brief a human editor. The agent reads the transcript and the project and changes a normal multi-track timeline while you watch.

You can ask for more changes, or drag, trim, and split clips yourself. Undo covers the agent's edits too. Edits you can ask for include word-by-word captions styled and timed to the voice, punch zooms on the lines that matter, a reframe from landscape to vertical that follows the subject, music that ducks under the voice, one tap film looks, and motion title presets with real easing.

Export MP4, MOV (ProRes), or WebM in 1080p or 4K, and GIF, in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, or 4:5. It also writes SRT and WebVTT captions, YouTube chapters, and project files for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. Your clips, projects, and exports stay on your Mac, and transcription runs on the Mac too.

No octuedit server receives the footage. Anonymous step diagnostics and a record of each agent edit (the request, the agent's steps, and the timeline before and after, never the media) are on by default. Each one switches off in Settings > Privacy.

What reaches your own Claude or OpenAI account is the request plus the agent's work on the project, such as transcript lines. By default a few still frames per clip are sent too, so search can find what is on screen. That can be switched off in Settings.

You need Claude Code or Codex, one of them, not both. octuedit does not sell AI credits. The chat inside the app runs on Claude Code, and Codex can edit the same project from Terminal, under the account you already pay for. Any Mac on macOS 13 Ventura or later can run it, Apple silicon or Intel.
