Edits for desktop is Instagram's Mac video editor at edits.instagram.com. It is free to download and runs on Apple silicon, M1 or later. There is no Windows version.
The desktop app adds a multi-track timeline, keyframes, audio waveforms for beat-accurate cuts, and color wheels and curves. It includes Instagram's licensed and royalty-free audio libraries. You can import your own LUTs and font files.
Edits says automatic captions are unlimited. You sign in with Instagram. That keeps projects with the account and lets you publish to Instagram without downloading and uploading again.
You can work in more than one aspect ratio and export 4K with no watermark. The desktop app keeps a familiar interface and adds features the phone app does not have.
