Threads viewer: read a profile and its posts before you reach out
By Steven Van ·
Unif API's guide covers reading a public Threads profile and latest posts before outreach, at about 30 to 50 credits per account.
Unif API has published a guide to its Threads viewer, which loads a public account's profile and its latest page of original posts so they can be read before outreach. The viewer runs on the Threads profile and Threads posts endpoints. The guide also shows how to turn the review into a read-only prompt for an agent in Unif API.
What the viewer reads
It reads one public account at a time. Photos and videos are rendered from the platform CDN, and each post links back to Threads. Private accounts return nothing. Replies and reposts by the account are separate endpoints, and keyword search across Threads is not part of the tool yet. Unif says search will be added once it passes the same reliability bar as the profile reads.
Reading the signals
The guide lists what a page of posts can suggest:
- Daily, mostly text posts point to an account that uses Threads for conversation.
- Long gaps may mean cross-posting from Instagram or a dormant account, so check the dates before pitching.
- Photos and videos on most posts suggest content made for Threads rather than reposted.
- Likes in the hundreds on a small account can indicate an engaged niche.
- Launch and product posts mean the account sells, so read the replies before proposing a collaboration.
Like counts are the only engagement figure the public surface exposes, so the guide advises treating the page as one evidence point. A quiet comment section here may hide hundreds of replies on Threads.
Review workflow
The suggested steps are to confirm the profile (name, bio, follower count, verification), read the latest posts newest first while noting cadence and the mix of text, photo and video, and open two or three posts to see the replies and whether the account answers. The guide also suggests checking the same handle on X and Instagram, and recording the page so a recheck a month later shows whether the account kept posting.
Cost and agent prompt
Live checks cost one credit for the profile plus one per post on the latest page. A full first page is usually 25 to 50 posts, so the guide puts a single account at 30 to 50 credits.
For a shortlist, the guide gives a bounded prompt. The agent fetches each public account's profile and latest posts, then returns the posting cadence, the share of posts with media, the three most-liked posts with dates, and whether the topics match the brief. It also flags accounts with no posts in the last 30 days. The prompt keeps the agent read-only, and the operator decides whether to reach out.
