Translate & Adapt US/CAN Update: Auto-sync translations for up to 8 languages

By Steven Van ·

Auto-sync translates new and updated store content weekly for US and Canadian merchants, and Shopify now covers up to 8 languages instead of 2.

Merchants in the United States and Canada can now turn on Auto-sync in Translate & Adapt, and the number of languages Shopify can translate automatically has gone from 2 to 8.

Auto-sync

Until now, editing a product description or other store content meant going back into the app to re-translate it manually. Translated storefronts could fall behind, and buyers could land on outdated content in their language. With Auto-sync enabled for a published language, Shopify translates new and updated content automatically each week.

Translations written manually are never overwritten.

Turning it on

Auto-sync is off by default. To enable it, open Translate & Adapt, select a language, and use the Auto-sync toggle. It can be switched on or off per language at any time.

Translate now and language slots

The Auto-translate button is now called Translate now. It is for translating content immediately rather than waiting for the next weekly sync.

Using Auto-sync, Translate now, or both for a language counts as 1 of the 8 language slots.
