SimGym adds shopping goals with more actionable insights and visual guidance

By Steven Van ·

SimGym can now test full shopping journeys, product discovery and add-to-cart confidence, with numbered markers and playback videos behind each recommendation.

Shopify's SimGym simulations can now start from a specific shopping goal, and its recommendations point to where on the store they apply. The changelog entry lists these as new testing focuses alongside the existing theme comparisons.

New testing focuses

  • Entire shopping journeys: AI shoppers move through the store to help find the biggest points of friction.
  • Product discovery: AI shoppers browse the store and check whether it leads them to products that match what they are looking for.
  • Add to cart confidence: AI shoppers check whether the product details give them enough information to buy.

Recommendations with visual guidance

Recommendations are now more direct and actionable. Numbered markers connect each recommendation to the relevant page location, which shows where on the store to apply it.

Drilling into a recommendation

Each recommendation links to a summary of the AI shopper's visit. Playback videos show where the shopper ran into friction and what they responded to positively.
