Product variants now support multiple barcodes
Variants can now carry up to 20 barcodes with type checking, bulk editing, and CSV import and export, while channels still read the first one listed.
Shopify variants can now hold up to 20 barcodes instead of one, so a manufacturer's UPC, a private-label EAN, and a marketplace ASIN can all live on the same product record instead of a separate spreadsheet.
- Add, scan, and remove barcodes from the variant details page or the Shopify app, tagging each one as UPC, EAN, ISBN, GTIN, ASIN, or Custom; standard types are checked against their format as you type.
- Update barcodes across many variants at once in the bulk editor.
- Import and export the full set through the Variant Barcodes column in the product CSV.
- Search for products by any barcode on a variant, not just the first.
Existing barcodes carry over with nothing to migrate. Sales channels still read only the first barcode on a variant, so labels, channel feeds, and apps that expect a single code keep working as before.
