Map product data by sales channel
By Steven Van ·
Shopify's new channel mapping page lets merchants change field sources, combine fields, override values per product and bulk edit listings.
Shopify has added a channel mapping page for managing the product data sent to each sales channel, according to its changelog. It also previews the data each channel receives.
Mapping fields per channel
Fields such as title, images, product category and color come with default mappings that set where each channel field gets its information. Those sources can be changed, and a change applies to every product on that channel.
- Combine fields: map one field to more than one source, for example "product title - brand" so the brand name also appears in the listing title.
- Change a source field: point a default at a different field.
- Customize by channel: override any field per product and per channel.
Bulk edits and coverage
Channel values can be updated for many products and variants at once. Each field shows a coverage percentage, which makes missing values easy to spot and fix when building more complete listings.
The changelog does not state plan or availability details. It points to Shopify's help doc for more on channel mapping.
