Knowledge base is now built into your admin

By Steven Van ·

Stores with over 1,000 facts in the old app must add the ones they want to keep before it closes on January 15, 2027.

Shopify has moved its Knowledge base into the admin at Sales channels > Agentic > Knowledge base. It replaces the standalone Knowledge Base app, which will no longer be available after January 15, 2027, according to the Shopify changelog.

What the page does

The Knowledge base is a single page where you review, edit and publish the facts AI agents get about your store, such as contact details and gift services. Shopify drafts these facts from your own published storefront pages, and each one links back to the page it came from. Nothing Shopify drafted reaches AI agents until you publish it. Facts drafted from your storefront start out unpublished.

If you used the Knowledge Base app

  • Fewer than 1,000 facts: the facts you wrote or edited moved over and were published, so AI agents can keep using them. You can unpublish any fact at any time. No action is required.
  • More than 1,000 facts: Knowledge base holds up to 1,000 additional facts. If your app has more than that, your facts have not moved over, and you need to add the ones you want to keep before January 15, 2027. Shopify has emailed these stores directly.
  • Not using the app: nothing is required.

Shopify's Help Center has more detail on the Knowledge base.
