Fulfill orders in batches

By Steven Van ·

Merchants can group up to 250 fulfillments by product type or destination, then pick, label, print and pack them with a customisable workflow.

Shopify now lets merchants fulfill orders together in batches. A batch can hold up to 250 fulfillments, grouped by criteria such as product type or shipping destination. Picking, label buying, document printing and packing then happen for the whole group at once.

Default workflow

Each batch follows a workflow with three steps by default:

  • Pick: print a pick list showing the products for every order in the batch.
  • Print: buy shipping labels for all orders in the batch at once, then print packing slips, shipping labels and customs forms together.
  • Pack: scan items to verify them. A tone plays and a green checkmark appears for each correct item. A wrong or extra item plays an error tone and shows a red icon.

Customising the workflow

  • Add, delete or rename steps, and add actions to any step.
  • Drag steps and actions to reorder them.
  • Choose which documents print in each step.
  • Assign a staff member to each step.

Getting started

Go to the Orders page, select the orders to fulfill, and click Create batch. The most recent unfulfilled orders can also be batched automatically. Shopify's Help Center has more detail.
