OpenDuet is a self-hosted template for proactive agents
By Steven Van ·
CopilotKit's open-source template runs on any AG-UI agent, with approvals, computer use, and web, Slack, and Teams, and it is early.
CopilotKit published OpenDuet on October 27, an open-source template for a proactive agent you host yourself. It is the open-source counterpart to Claude Duet, and it works with any agent that speaks AG-UI.
It opens with a morning brief, keeps working on a computer of its own, and waits before it sends, pays, signs, or deletes. Make can generate a design, a dashboard, or a web page. You reach it on the web, and in Slack or Microsoft Teams. It runs on OpenBot, with OpenDuet's name, bots, and skills in one folder.
The license is MIT. You need Docker, Bun 1.3 or newer, Node, a model key, and a CopilotKit Intelligence project. The free Developer plan covers threads and memory. The default model is OpenAI's gpt-5.6-terra. A hosted deploy guide is not published, so the quick start is how you run it today.
