OpenAI Verify checks whether an image came from its products
The free tool now reads SynthID watermarks alongside existing C2PA Content Credentials.
OpenAI Verify is a new public tool that checks whether an image was made by OpenAI products. It reads C2PA Content Credentials embedded in the file and now also checks for a SynthID watermark, which OpenAI has started adding to images alongside the existing C2PA metadata.
Anyone can run an image through the tool to see whether it originated from OpenAI, without needing access to the original generation account. Details in the announcement.
