Obsidian 1.9.12 Desktop (Public)

By Steven Van ·

Shiny new things This update introduces a new migration assistant for Obsidian Sync.

Obsidian 1.9.12 for desktop adds a migration assistant for Obsidian Sync, which handles vault migrations such as encryption upgrades and, eventually, switching regions. When an encryption upgrade is available, an "Upgrade vault encryption" option appears in Settings → Sync.

  • Obsidian now checks for plugins known to cause problems on 1.9: Commander v0.5.3, which made the mobile toolbar take up the whole screen, is fixed as long as you update to the latest version; the "Image Toolkit" plugin, which breaks Obsidian's menus, stays disabled until a fixed version is released.
  • Search view performance is drastically improved.
  • Bases: fixed a view not refreshing after renaming the currently active view, and fixed file.tags.contains() not matching parent tags (so "a" now matches "a/b").
  • Properties: fixed the context menu immediately hiding after right-clicking in the Local Properties view.
  • The installer now uses Electron v37.3.1, which requires downloading the latest installer.

Full details are in the original changelog.
