By Steven Van ·
Includes all new functionality and bug fixes up to Obsidian Desktop v1.9.0.
Obsidian's mobile app has entered early access for version 1.9.0, catching mobile up with all the functionality and bug fixes already shipped in Obsidian Desktop 1.9.0.
General changes include:
- The app now resizes smoothly when the on-screen keyboard appears and disappears.
- Two-finger swipe to move forward and backwards through tab history is more responsive.
- The default navigation bar layout has been updated, and the default toolbar now shows undo and redo at the start of the row.
- The app adapts better to landscape mode.
- You can reset your Obsidian account password from the initial onboarding flow.
- Pressing and holding a file name in the Search view now opens its context menu.
- The sidebar now collapses after opening a file from the file explorer, sidebar layout on tablets with pinned sidebars is fixed, and popovers now stay within device insets so they no longer overlap things like the Dynamic Island or navigation bar.
iOS
- Ctrl-Tab and Shift-Ctrl-Tab now switch between tabs on iPad.
- Toolbar placement is fixed when using Stage Manager or the floating keyboard on iPad.
- Two-finger swipe navigation is disabled while the on-screen keyboard is visible, since it conflicted with the built-in gesture for moving the cursor.
Android
- The app is now edge-to-edge, so the status bar and navigation bar always fit with the rest of the app.
- The app layout adapts better to the on-screen keyboard and now resizes correctly in split-screen mode.
- A missing 500 font weight for Inter has been added.
Full details are in the changelog entry.
