Obsidian 1.8.9 Desktop (Public)

By Steven Van ·

Improvements Updated in-app translations. Improved app performance when a tree view (e.g. File explorer) is displaying a large number of items.

Obsidian has shipped version 1.8.9 for desktop, fixing a regression that made large vaults take significantly longer to load and save their cache, a bug introduced with Electron 33.

  • File explorer and other tree views now perform better when displaying a large number of items.
  • List auto-numbering preserves custom starting numbers, and with "Smart indent lists" disabled the editor no longer auto-renumbers lists.
  • Obsidian Sync now warns before connecting to a remote vault that's already managed by a third-party sync service, to flag possible conflicts.
  • Live preview correctly renders - - - as a horizontal rule, notes with corrupted fold information can be opened again, and tables inside embeds render full width.
  • The installer moves to Electron 34.3.0, fixing menus that failed to appear when right-clicking on macOS.
