Obsidian 1.12 for desktop adds a command line interface, letting people control the app from a terminal for scripting, automation, and integration with external tools. Installation steps are covered in the platform-specific troubleshooting section of the changelog.
- Images in Live Preview can now be resized by dragging from the corner; double-clicking the corner resets the size.
- Deleting a file now prompts to also delete its attachments, with a new Files & Links setting to choose "Always", "Ask every time", or "Never".
- Bases gets a search toolbar button to filter query results and drag-and-drop file import.
- Copy and paste in the File Explorer now works with Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V (Cmd-C/Cmd-V on macOS).
- Backlinks in Canvas files are now detected, showing up in the Backlinks view and counting as links in Graph view.
- "Change vault..." has been renamed to "Manage vaults", with new "Change vault..." and "Open vault..." commands for switching or opening vaults from the keyboard.
The installer now uses Electron v39.7.0, which requires downloading the latest installer.
