By Steven Van ·

Shiny new things iOS Lock Screen and Control Center widgets let you quickly Create a new note, Open a specific note, Open daily note, Open search, or Open…

Obsidian's mobile apps have an early access release, 1.11.0, with home screen widgets, shortcuts and a refreshed interface, published December 10, 2025.

iOS

  • Lock Screen and Control Center widgets to create a new note, open a specific note, open the daily note, open search, or open Obsidian.
  • Home Screen widgets to create a note, view a note, or open the daily note.
  • Shortcuts to open a note, open the daily note, or capture to a note, including capture shortcuts that append or prepend text without opening the app.
  • Siri integration for phrases like "Capture using Obsidian", "Capture to Obsidian", "Open my daily note in Obsidian" and "Search in Obsidian".
  • Searching for Obsidian in Spotlight now surfaces New Note, Search and Daily Note actions.

Android

  • New widgets for Open Note, New Note, Search, Daily Note and Open Obsidian. Multiple widgets of the same type can be added to open different files or trigger different search queries, configured by long-pressing the widget.
  • A Quick Settings Tile, requiring Android 7.0+.
  • New app shortcuts for Open note and Daily note, requiring Android 7.1+, accessible by long-pressing the app icon or dragging the shortcut icon to the home screen.

The release also refreshes the mobile interface: navigation now hides automatically when scrolling down in a note, the sidebar has a new bottom-aligned tab switcher, switching to search focuses the input immediately, toggles and checkboxes have haptics, and double-tapping a note switches it from reading to editing mode. Plugin developers can now request user location, for example for maps. Fixes include an iCloud vault URI bug, cursor placement on tap, centered toolbars on tablets, smoother swipe gestures, scroll position loss when the keyboard closes, and a Bases summary row that was hidden behind the navigation bar.
