New Custom Agent controls for admins

By Steven Van ·

Two months ago, we launched Custom Agents in beta.

Notion has added a set of admin controls for Custom Agents, the workspace AI agents that left beta two months ago after teams created more than a million of them. The new controls let admins manage who can build agents and how much they can spend.

  • Admins can restrict who creates Custom Agents to specific individuals or user groups, and set per-agent credit limits with the agent's creator, from Settings → Notion AI → Agents.
  • Enterprise admins can also set a single workspace-level credit limit that applies to all new and existing agents, from Settings → Notion credits.
  • A Notion credits dashboard shows total usage broken down by agent, plus spend trends, status, and recent activity; admins can disable an agent directly from there if it is spending too fast. Admins managing multiple workspaces get an equivalent credits dashboard in the admin console.
  • Workspaces get email and in-app alerts as they approach their credit limit, all agents pause automatically if credits run out, and any agent that starts spending unusually fast is paused with a notification to its creator. Members can request a higher credit limit, but it requires admin approval.
