Notion Custom Agents Can Now Call Sub-Agents

By Steven Van ·

Notion Custom Agents can now delegate focused work to sub-agents, each with its own instructions, context, access, and model.

Notion Custom Agents can now call sub-agents, and each sub-agent runs with its own instructions, context, access, and model.

The idea is that big workflows are rarely a single job. A primary agent can hand off focused pieces of work to other Custom Agents, then bring the results back together to finish what it was asked to do. Notion describes a Mobile App PM agent that sends bug reports to a triage agent and metrics questions to a reporting agent, then combines the answers into one Slack update.

  • A Custom Agent can call other Custom Agents as sub-agents.
  • Each sub-agent has its own instructions, context, access, and model.
  • The primary agent decides when to delegate and uses each response to complete the original task.
  • Notion cites Remote running its IT help desk on five agents this way.

The feature was introduced in a post from Notion; see the announcement.
