Agents, rebuilt to do more for less
By Steven Van ·
Agents get their own computer and browser, and the Auto router cuts average cost about 90% while Notion AI moves to a new credit system.
Notion AI's agents have been rebuilt, with a cheaper model router, support for outside AI subscriptions and a new credit system. Notion detailed the changes in its October 19 release notes.
More capable Notion Agents
Notion rebuilt its agent harness. Agents now have their own computer and browser, smarter context management, and a new "Review for me" mode with safety checks. They can work on tasks for up to 24 hours, and chats load up to 50% faster on mobile.
Auto, the upgraded model router
Auto matches each task to a model, balancing quality, speed and cost, and changes course if it gets stuck. Across 20+ common tasks, Notion says Auto delivered results similar to Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost, so credits go about 10× further.
Bring your own AI
- A ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go plan can be connected to a personal Notion Agent.
- Bring Your Own Key is now in private alpha for Enterprise.
Notion MCP and the credit system
Notion overhauled its MCP so that outside agents can use Notion as a shared brain: find context, remember what matters and make things to share. Memory sync is live now, and skills via MCP are coming soon.
All Notion AI usage moves to a new credit system, covering Notion Agent, Custom Agents and many outside AI tools. Notion's blog post has the full details.
Coming soon: AI Command Center
The AI Command Center will show usage by person, feature and agent. It will also let admins set spending limits and alerts, and decide which models and agents a team can use.
