Motion 14.7.0

By Steven Van ·

Motion 14.7.0 adds mutable timeline sequences and relative label offsets, plus layoutId changes, drag and scroll fixes, and a 30% smaller useSpring.

Timeline sequences in Motion's animate can now be changed after they are created, and labels in a sequence accept relative offsets. Both are part of Motion 14.7.0, which also adds a transition.out prop and a set of layout, drag and scroll fixes. Motion Studio is the visual timeline and editing tool for these animations.

Added

  • animate: mutable timeline sequences.
  • animate: relative label offsets for timeline sequences.
  • motion: a transition.out prop for transitions when exiting a state.
  • useScroll: now returns scrollXLength and scrollYLength.
  • Reorder: a LazyMotion-compatible import.

Layout changes

layoutId elements now animate relative to their closest layoutRoot ancestor, if there is one. A layoutId can also be changed after mount.

Fixes

  • Fixed a flash when changing the playback speed of an accelerated independent transform.
  • AnimatePresence: improved positioning of popped elements.
  • spring: overdamped springs no longer snap to the target.
  • drag: ref constraints stay up to date after scroll.
  • drag: inertia no longer stops dead after a fast flick from a standstill.
  • useScroll: fixed tracking in horizontal containers.

Size and performance

useSpring is 30% smaller, and the release lists further bundle size reductions for motion. Background-color animations move back to the main thread for improved interpolation.
