Motion 14.0.0

By Steven Van ·

Motion's major release pins its internal dependencies, so future removals of internal APIs should not break framer-motion compatibility.

Motion 14.0.0 is a major release for the animation library behind Motion Studio, and its one listed change is about compatibility. The changelog entry says internal APIs that had been removed were restored in 13.5.1, so Motion keeps working with framer-motion 13.0 to 13.4.

Pinned internal dependencies

Motion now pins its internal framer-motion, motion-dom and motion-utils dependencies. According to the changelog, this means future removals of internal APIs won't cause cross-compatibility issues.

Context from 13.5.1

The 13.5.1 patch, released the same day, temporarily reverted the removal of the internal observeTimeline API in scroll to fix compatibility with previous 13.x APIs. The changelog says the removal will happen in 14.x, once dependencies are pinned.
