NVIDIA to Acquire Hugging Face
NVIDIA is buying Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, pledging no NVIDIA-compute requirement and continued support for open and multi-cloud models.
NVIDIA has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, NVIDIA chief executive Jensen Huang announced. Huang says the platform will stay open: developers keep choosing the models, frameworks, clouds, inference providers and computing platforms they want, and NVIDIA compute will not be required to build on or deploy through Hugging Face.
Hugging Face has more than 18 million developers sharing over 3 million models, 500,000 datasets and 1 million applications, and more than 200,000 companies use it to discover, evaluate, customize and deploy AI. NVIDIA says it is already the largest contributor of open models and data to the platform, having released more than 500 models and over 250 open datasets there. Hugging Face will keep its name and its 🤗 brand.
