Gradient Lab’s biggest update turns photos into gradients
By Steven Van ·
The free in-browser gradient generator from Backgrounds Supply adds photo-to-gradient, drawn mesh shapes, on-canvas handles, 10 new looks and 8K stills.
Gradient Lab, the free gradient background generator from Backgrounds Supply, got its biggest update yet on October 27. You can now turn any photo into a gradient, or draw shapes and watch them melt into a mesh gradient.
Points, angles and glows can be dragged right on the canvas. The update adds 10 new looks (Light Beam, Edge Glow, Curtains, Flow Mesh, Eclipse, Burst, Spectral, Contour, Bokeh and Mercury) and 37 new presets. Random now picks palettes that belong together, and a fresh preset loads each time you open it.
Stills export as PNG or JPG up to 8K. Gradient Lab also exports animated MP4 or WebM video at up to 4K and 30 seconds with no watermark, and gives you an embed code to run the live gradient on your own site.
It runs in the browser, is free and needs no signup. It comes from Kailash, who also makes ASCII Magic.
