What is Gradient Lab?

Gradient Lab is a free, in-browser gradient background generator from Backgrounds Supply. Pick from 20+ live animated shader modes, tune the colors in real time, then export a still PNG or an animated video — or grab an embed code to run the live gradient on your own site. Nothing to install, no account needed.

It is free, needs no signup, runs in the browser, and exports are watermark-free. Video export is MP4 (H.264) or WebM at 480p, 720p, 1080p, or 4K (3840×2160), up to 30 seconds. Aspect ratio and animation speed are adjustable.

The October 27, 2026 update turns any photo into a gradient, lets you draw shapes that melt into a mesh gradient, and lets you drag points, angles, and glows on the canvas. It adds 10 new looks (Light Beam, Edge Glow, Curtains, Flow Mesh, Eclipse, Burst, Spectral, Contour, Bokeh, and Mercury), 37 new presets, better random palettes, a fresh preset on each open, and PNG or JPG export up to 8K. Gradient Lab is made by Kailash (https://x.com/kail_designs), who also makes ASCII Magic.

The site is https://backgrounds.supply/gradient-lab. The wider Backgrounds Supply library adds AI-generated backgrounds and animated video backdrops across 29 collections.

Pricing: Free. No signup, and exports are watermark-free.
