Notion gets Claude Opus 5 on day one

The same-day launch brings frontier-level reasoning to Notion AI and its agents at half the price of Claude Fable 5.
Notion switched on Claude Opus 5 the same day Anthropic released it, putting Anthropic's newest flagship model behind Notion AI and its agents. It's a short announcement, but the model behind it is a significant jump, and for a workspace people run their work inside, the model that answers questions and drives agents is the whole experience.
Why the model matters in Notion specifically
Notion isn't a chatbot; it's a workspace of docs, databases, and projects, and its AI has to reason over that structure, pulling the right facts from the right pages, editing databases, running agents across your content. That's a harder job than open-ended chat, and it rewards a more capable model. Opus 5 is built for exactly this kind of agentic work: it roughly doubled Opus 4.8's score on Frontier-Bench (43.3% vs 18.7%), the benchmark that measures real multi-step, multi-file task execution rather than single answers.
Frontier intelligence, half the price
The headline for Opus 5 is that it reaches roughly Claude Fable 5-level intelligence at half the price ($5 per million input tokens, $25 output, the same as Opus 4.8 and half of Fable 5's rate). For a tool like Notion that fires the model on countless small operations across a workspace, cheaper frontier intelligence is what makes it viable to use AI everywhere rather than sparingly. It also ships with a low/medium/high effort toggle, letting the harder reasoning tasks get more compute while routine ones stay cheap.
Part of a fast cadence
Opus 5 is Anthropic's fourth model in two months, and it tops Fable 5 on most benchmarks. Notion being a same-day launch partner means its users feel that progress immediately: better answers grounded in your workspace, and more reliable agents doing multi-step work. Combined with Notion's recent agent features (inbox management, Notion-as-code), a stronger underlying model raises the ceiling on what those agents can actually pull off.
