Claude Code 2.1.292

By Steven Van ·

The update adds one-step marketplace plugin installs, sub-agent effort controls and new mod hooks.

Plugins can now be installed from a marketplace in one step in Claude Code 2.1.292. The new --marketplace option adds the marketplace if needed, applies the same policy checks as claude plugin marketplace add, then installs the plugin from it.

Sub-agent effort and retry timing

The Agent tool now accepts an effort parameter, letting Claude run a sub-agent at the requested effort level. A new CLAUDE_CODE_OVERLOADED_RETRY_BASE_DELAY_MS environment variable lets users set a longer base delay for retry backoff after an overloaded (529) request.

New hooks and caching for mods

  • The prompt.autocomplete event lets a mod add its own rows to the prompt box's autocomplete list.
  • For $.model.complete, prompt and system now accept blocks of text. Setting cache: true on a block caches the request up to that block.
  • The agent.spawn hook now includes workflow agents, with their run and index, so a mod can refuse them.

Permission and sandbox fixes

The release fixes sub-agent definitions with permissionMode: auto entering auto mode when it is unavailable because of settings, a circuit breaker or an unsupported model. It also fixes sandboxed commands being able to read staged copies of /ultrareview uploads under ~/.claude/seed-admin.

These changes are listed in the official changelog.
