Claude Code 2.1.287
By Steven Van ·
Version 2.1.287 adds Claude Mods for deeper plugin control, a built-in "You should know" mod, an agents view filter and an MCP config change.
Claude Code now lets plugins modify deeper behavior, under a feature called Claude Mods. Release 2.1.287 also adds a first built-in mod and several smaller changes.
- You should know: a built-in mod where a side agent watches for things you or Claude might miss and flags them. Turn it on with /plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin. It is for first-party sessions with telemetry on.
- Agents view: a new n: filter matches session names and tasks. A filter now shows matches in collapsed sections, and Enter opens the first match.
- OpenTelemetry: the user_prompt event gains prompt_text, a copy of prompt for backends that nest dotted keys. Drop or mask it wherever you drop or mask prompt.
- MCP: URL prompts from servers on the 2025-11-25 protocol are now supported, for example to sign in. If a server no longer connects after the update, add "bareElicitationCapability": true to its MCP config entry.
- Windows: a startup warning appears when denying the Bash tool also turns off the PowerShell tool, which would leave Claude with no shell tool.
- Self-hosted runner: a built-in gh api (REST only) is added for sessions that use Anthropic-managed git on macOS and Linux machines without the GitHub CLI installed.
- Fix: fast mode no longer stays off in remote sessions owned by an agent with no user.
