Adobe brings 70+ Photoshop, Firefly and Acrobat tools into ChatGPT

By Steven Van ·

One plugin routes requests across Photoshop, Firefly, Acrobat, Express and more, with guest access and deeper features once you sign in with Adobe.

Adobe just moved most of its creative suite into ChatGPT. The new Adobe plugin bundles more than 70 pro-grade tools from Photoshop, Firefly, Acrobat, Adobe Express, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Stock into a single integration. You describe the result you want, and ChatGPT quietly picks the right Adobe tools to deliver it, complete with rich interactive experiences inside the conversation. The plugin is available globally on ChatGPT web and app, and it works across ChatGPT Work and Codex too.

One @Adobe mention replaces nine app icons

Adobe first tested the waters in late 2025, when it used OpenAI's Apps SDK to bring just three apps to ChatGPT: Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Acrobat. This launch goes much further and folds nearly the entire suite into one plugin. The pitch is orchestration. Instead of you deciding whether a task calls for Express, Illustrator, or Acrobat, the plugin routes your request to the right tool behind the scenes. You type what you need, Adobe figures out the plumbing, and the work happens in the chat.

Vibhor Chhabra, product lead for ChatGPT Ecosystem at OpenAI, framed it simply: "We're building ChatGPT to connect our users with the best capabilities for the task at hand."

Batch edits, highlight reels, and spreadsheets that become catalogs

The example workflows Adobe is showing off map neatly onto creator busywork. You can upload a batch of campaign photos, apply a consistent style across all of them, and save the results to Creative Cloud. You can hand over a long-form video and get highlight reels cut and adapted for Shorts and Reels. You can browse Adobe's design templates, customize them in the conversation, animate them for social, or export polished PDFs. And on the productivity side, the plugin turns spreadsheets into formatted PDFs: event badges, product catalogs, even infographics.

For solo creators and small teams, that last mile has always been the annoying part. The ideas live in a chat with an AI already. Now the export-ready asset can come out of the same window.

Guest mode works, but signing in unlocks the good stuff

Setup takes about a minute. Open ChatGPT, go to Plugins, and add Adobe. From there, type "@Adobe" in the prompt bar or pick it from the + button. You can use a broad set of tools as a guest with no Adobe account at all, which is a notably low barrier for a company built on subscriptions.

Signing in with an Adobe account is where it gets serious. That unlocks Firefly-powered generative capabilities, access to your Creative Cloud files, and the ability to save work across sessions. In other words, guest mode is the demo, and the signed-in experience is the actual workflow.

The handoff: draft in chat, finish in the desktop apps

Adobe is being careful not to cannibalize its flagship software. Forest Key, Adobe's VP of Firefly and agentic AI, told press the plugin "isn't a replacement for our flagship apps that creative professionals rely on every day." The integration is built around a handoff: get the concept, the batch edit, or the rough cut done in ChatGPT, then open the hero image in Photoshop when you need layers, masks, and pixel-level control.

That positioning makes sense. Chat is great for intent, and terrible for nudging a mask boundary by two pixels. Adobe gets to own both ends of that spectrum.

Adobe wants to live inside every chatbot you use

This launch is one move in a bigger land grab. Adobe's tools are now available across ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot, with Slack and Gemini integrations coming soon. The strategy is clear: wherever people are already talking to an AI, Adobe wants to be the creative engine underneath. For OpenAI, landing the deepest version of that integration first is a win for ChatGPT's growing app ecosystem.

Our take: this is the most consequential creative-tools integration ChatGPT has shipped. If the orchestration works as advertised, a lot of one-off Canva-style tasks and quick video repurposing jobs will start and finish inside a chat window. Creators should try the guest mode today, then decide whether their Creative Cloud login belongs in ChatGPT too.
