What is AI Agent Skills?

AI Agent Skills is a searchable directory of open-source skills for AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex CLI. Skills are reusable capability packages that their maintainers publish, usually on GitHub. The site indexes and categorizes them and links back to the upstream repository.

It does not install, host or run them. On October 18, 2026, its stats page listed 9,942 released skills from 1,135 distinct GitHub repository owners. Listings are grouped under AI agent skills, with categories such as Writing & Content, Design & UI, Marketing & SEO, Research & Knowledge and Productivity, and developer skills, with categories such as Frontend, Backend & API, Database, Testing & QA, DevOps & Cloud, Security and MCP & Integrations.

The browse view can be filtered by category and sorted by stars, last update or name. Each skill page shows a read-only copy of the skill's SKILL.md file, the repository owner, license, stars, forks and update date, with links to the GitHub repository. Skills come from public repositories and skill indexes.

A skill is marked released only after automated quality and safety checks. The site says stars alone are not a quality or security guarantee and advises reviewing a skill's permissions, scripts and network access before installing it. AI Agent Skills describes itself as an independent, community-oriented directory and states that it is not affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI.

The publisher says browsing and discovering skills is free and that there is no pricing page; its terms of service note that some features may require payment. The site interface is available in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
