X launches Live Studio, a livestreaming command centre

By Steven Van ·

The Premium-tier beta bundles setup, chat controls and real-time audience analytics, backed by a $1 million creator payout.

X is making a serious play for live video. On July 1, 2026, the company announced Live Studio (beta) — a completely redesigned livestreaming command center built right into X.com. Pitched as a home for pro streamers, it bundles the tools to go live, connect with followers, and manage a broadcast into a single control room inside Creator Studio, signalling that X wants live to be a first-class format rather than an afterthought.

A desktop-first livestreaming command center

Live Studio lives inside Creator Studio on X.com and is built for going live from a desktop PC. X's head of product, Nikita Bier, framed it as "a brand new livestreaming command center," positioning X as the place "where everything is happening now" and the new tooling as the best way for pro streamers to reach that audience. The updated live composer streamlines the launch flow: creators get a simplified setup on desktop, chat control options to manage the conversation, and the ability to upload a custom thumbnail before the stream begins. For creators who already broadcast elsewhere, X's Media Studio Producer continues to support professional inputs — streaming software, hardware encoders, and professional cameras — so higher-end setups can feed straight into a stream.

A live dashboard with real-time audience insight

The headline addition is the in-stream dashboard. Once a broadcast is live, Live Studio surfaces audience insights in real time, including viewer and comment peaks so creators can see exactly when their stream landed, plus audience demographics to understand who is tuning in. That kind of live telemetry is what separates a casual "go live" button from a genuine streaming product — it lets creators react in the moment, spot what drives engagement, and refine their format from one broadcast to the next. It also nudges X's live experience closer to the analytics-rich dashboards streamers expect from platforms built specifically for live video.

A million-dollar push to bring streamers in

X is not just shipping software — it is putting money behind adoption. Alongside Live Studio, Bier said the company would allocate $1 million to reward creators who livestream in the upcoming cycle, an incentive clearly aimed at pulling established streamers onto the platform and seeding the format with regular broadcasts. Access reflects X's broader monetization strategy: Live Studio is tied to X Premium or higher, the tiers that include Media Studio, so the richer live tooling sits behind a subscription rather than being available to every account.

What it means for creators

For creators already building an audience on X, Live Studio lowers the friction of going live and finally pairs it with the kind of data and payout incentives that make live video worth the effort. It also fits neatly with X's push to be the real-time everything app — the same platform that powers real-time posts, the X API, and a hosted MCP server for AI agents is now angling to be a livestreaming destination too. As a beta, expect the feature set to keep expanding, but the direction is clear: X wants creators to broadcast, analyze, and grow their live audiences without leaving X.com.
