Webflow lets sites default the canvas to a simpler preview role

By Steven Van ·

Designers and site managers can set Marketer or Content editor as the always-on preview role, per user and per site, on any plan.

Webflow's Designer canvas can now default to a specific preview role for each site. Designers and site managers with Designer access or higher can select Marketer or Content editor as their preview role and check "Always default to that role on this site," so the canvas opens directly in that simplified view instead of requiring a manual switch each time.

The preference is set per user and per site: choosing a default role on one site does not change the role on any other site. It can be changed or cleared later by repeating the same steps and picking a new role or unchecking the preference. The feature is available on all site plans and was announced on Webflow's updates page for Webflow.
