Introducing client seats: A flexible collaboration experience for your clients
By Steven Van ·
Client seats are now available for free on all Workspace plans for freelancers and agencies.
Webflow is rolling out client seats for free on all Workspace plans built for freelancers and agencies (Starter, Freelancer, or Agency). The feature replaces the legacy Editor, which Webflow's announcement says will stop working on August 4, 2026.
Client seats let a freelancer or agency invite clients into a site with one of three role-based access levels instead of the old one-size-fits-all Editor:
- Marketer: build and edit pages using components and templates
- Content editor: update text, images, and CMS content
- Reviewer: view and comment on the site
Seats are site-specific rather than workspace-wide, and can't currently be purchased in addition to what a plan already includes. Existing legacy Editor users are being migrated automatically over two weeks, with any user not already assigned a seat by May 4 defaulted to the Content editor role. All client seat users need a Webflow account, and those without one are walked through signup when they redeem a seat. Freelancers and agencies can also use client seats to collaborate with a client before buying a Site plan.
