Webflow lets CMS collections group fields into named sections
By Steven Van ·
Groups get descriptions, show as headers in the Data Manager, and are exposed through the CMS Data API.
Webflow now lets you organize Webflow CMS collection fields into named groups instead of one long list. Groups are created, renamed, reordered, and deleted from Collection Settings, with fields assigned by dragging them in or creating a field directly inside a group. Each group can also carry a description, giving content editors context about what belongs there.
- Field groups appear as labeled section headers in the Data Manager item view, not just in Collection Settings
- Field group metadata and assignments are accessible through the CMS Data API
The update is aimed at large schemas mixing SEO metadata, editorial content, and publishing controls, which previously had no way to be separated.
