Webflow Cloud apps can now run outside a site's URL path
By Steven Van ·
Next.js and Astro apps can deploy to their own domain via GitHub, the Webflow CLI, or a starter template, with per-branch environments.
Webflow Cloud apps no longer need to live under a Webflow site's URL sub-path. With new app project types, a Next.js or Astro app deployed to Webflow Cloud can now run on its own domain, or alongside an existing Webflow site, in the same workspace.
Setup works either from the dashboard, connecting GitHub and importing a repo (or one-click-deploying a starter template), or from the terminal with the Webflow CLI's webflow cloud init and webflow cloud deploy commands. Deployments are triggered by git push, and multiple environments can be managed through Git branches.
Deployed apps get access to Webflow Cloud Storage, which includes a key-value store, object storage, and a SQLite database, all built on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Apps can also import Webflow site components as React components via DevLink export, so a standalone app or one mounted beside a site can reuse the same design components as the marketing site. Plaintext env vars, encrypted secrets, and live runtime logs are also included.
