Vercel for Enterprise

By Steven Van ·

BYOC on AWS is generally available and agent access through your IdP enters public beta, extending Vercel's enterprise AI governance platform.

Vercel has made Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) on AWS generally available. It also launched Enterprise-Managed Authorization through Vercel Connect in public beta. Both extend Vercel's Enterprise Apps and Agents platform, which became available to customers in June and is described in the announcement as a central control plane for governing every builder, app, agent, token and dollar.

What is new

  • BYOC on AWS (generally available): the full Vercel developer experience, with compute and data kept inside the customer's AWS boundary.
  • Enterprise-Managed Authorization (public beta): through Vercel Connect, agents can access connected services on behalf of employees, using the company's identity provider (IdP).

Why Vercel is pushing governance

Vercel says enterprise AI use is spreading beyond engineers to what its customers call citizen developers. It cites two figures: token usage by enterprise companies on AI Gateway has quadrupled in the last three months, and OpenAI reported that non-developer Codex users grew 189x between August 2025 and June 2026. Vercel's concern is that anyone can now build, but governance is harder, and a badly vibe-coded login page could expose private data to the public internet.

How the control plane is organised

Enterprise Apps and Agents offers one deployment destination for engineers and citizen developers, with central governance over access, providers, models, data retention, token budgets, integrations and policies, managed through the existing IdP. The controls are grouped by domain:

  • Deployment governance: Enterprise Managed Users and RBAC, with accounts on the corporate domain provisioned and deprovisioned in sync with the IdP.
  • Access governance: Vercel Passport, Deployment Protection and Vercel Firewall, so apps land behind enterprise access controls without builders setting up SSO or firewall policies.
  • Integration and data governance: Vercel Connect and Enterprise-Managed Authorization, with short-lived, user-scoped data access so people only see data they are authorised to see.
  • Model and token governance: AI Gateway, including US-only inference and budget controls, with model budgets and spend tracked per team.

Organizations, Observability and Audit Logs provide central policy, visibility across every app and agent however it was built, and a record of every change.
