Security through design: Creating the improved Firewall experience

By Steven Van ·

Vercel redesigns its Firewall dashboard with a new Overview page, a Traffic tab, and inline alert inspection.

Vercel has redesigned the Firewall UI in the Vercel dashboard, built around requests from users to see active DDoS events, get more detail on what was blocked, and investigate traffic spikes faster.

  • A redesigned Overview page acts as a control center, with a traffic chart plus four tables: Alerts (recently mitigated DDoS attacks), Rules (top rule activity by volume), Events (mitigations taken), and Denied IPs (blocked connections by client IP)
  • New sidebar navigation splits the experience into Overview, Traffic, Rules, and Audit Log tabs
  • The Traffic page adds dedicated feeds for top IPs, JA4 digests, AS names, user agents, request paths, and rules with the most activity, with filtering by mitigation action
  • The Rules tab manages WAF custom rules including Bot Protection, Managed Rulesets, and IP Blocking, and the Audit Log now has its own tab
  • Clicking an alert or event opens a detailed inspection view directly in the page instead of switching context

The new Firewall experience is available now in the Vercel Dashboard, and Vercel is asking for feedback via the Vercel Community.
