Qwen 3 Max Thinking now available on AI Gateway

By Steven Van ·

The model runs with no separate Alibaba account and autonomously calls its own search, memory, and code interpreter tools during conversations.

Qwen 3 Max Thinking is now available through Vercel's AI Gateway, with no separate provider account required. The model combines thinking and non-thinking modes for complex reasoning tasks, and it decides on its own when to call its built-in search, memory, and code interpreter tools rather than requiring manual tool selection, which Vercel says cuts down on hallucinations and keeps answers current.

To use it, developers set the model to alibaba/qwen3-max-thinking in the AI SDK. AI Gateway also handles usage and cost tracking, retries, failover, and Bring Your Own Key support across models, and the new model's traffic share now shows up on the AI Gateway model leaderboard.
