Prisma joins the Vercel Marketplace

By Steven Van ·

Prisma Postgres can be added from the Vercel Marketplace on any plan, with billing through Vercel, a free tier and no separate signup.

Vercel now lists Prisma as a storage provider on its Marketplace, offering Prisma Postgres, a serverless database aimed at fullstack and edge applications. The integration is available to customers on all plans.

Accounts are created automatically and billing runs through Vercel, so no separate Prisma signup is needed. There is a free tier, and the vendor says setup takes a few clicks. It can also be installed from the command line with vc i prisma. Once enabled on a project, the integration sets the DATABASE_URL environment variable to connect to a Prisma Postgres instance.

The native integration includes:

  • Postgres with zero cold starts
  • Automatic scaling, with built-in global caching and connection pooling
  • Visual data management and AI-powered performance suggestions

Prisma Postgres charges per operation rather than for fixed compute. It currently requires Prisma ORM for migrations and queries, and support for other ORMs is listed as coming soon.
