Pixel Canary is now available in stealth for free on AI Gateway

Vercel's free stealth model ties the Next.js eval leaderboard's top coding score when given AGENTS.md docs.
Vercel's Vercel AI Gateway now offers Pixel Canary, an anonymous "stealth" model, as stealth/pixel-canary. It's free for a limited time while in stealth.
Pixel Canary is built for coding work: building applications, refactoring existing code, and frontend and mobile app design, including responsive layouts, app screens, navigation, and interactive components. On Next.js evals, it ties GPT 6 Astra (high) with a 90.3% baseline success rate, passing 28 of 31 tasks; with Next.js documentation supplied through AGENTS.md, it passes 30 of 31 (96.8%), matching the leaderboard's top score in that setting. It handles tasks covering App Router migrations, data fetching, image and font optimization, caching, and view transitions. Scores use pass@4, where a task counts as passed if any of up to four attempts succeeds. ZDR is not available for this model, and prompts and responses sent through it may be used for training and model improvement.
To try it, set a model to stealth/pixel-canary in the AI SDK, or run vercel ai-gateway setup with the Vercel CLI to configure a coding agent to use it.
