NuxtLabs joins Vercel

By Steven Van ·

Nuxt and Nitro stay MIT-licensed and open, while Nuxt Studio MDC, Nuxt UI Pro, and NuxtHub Admin become free.

NuxtLabs, the company behind the Nuxt framework and the Nitro server runtime, is joining Vercel. Nuxt is used by hundreds of thousands of developers with more than 1 million downloads a week, and Nitro serves as the server runtime behind APIs and AI agents across multiple frameworks.

Nuxt and Nitro will stay independent, MIT-licensed open source projects with a public roadmap and open governance, and Nitro will keep supporting other frameworks and vendors without lock-in. NuxtLabs' open source team, including Sebastien Chopin, Daniel Roe, Pooya Parsa, and Anthony Fu, is moving to Vercel with the projects. Over the coming months, Nuxt Studio MDC, Nuxt UI Pro, and NuxtHub Admin will become free and open source.
