New Domains Registrar API for domain search, pricing, purchase, and management

By Steven Van ·

Vercel's new Domains Registrar API lets developers search, price, buy, transfer, and renew domains programmatically, replacing the deprecated legacy API.

Vercel has added a Domains Registrar API for programmatically managing the domain lifecycle from search to renewal, alongside its new in-product Domains experience. The endpoints cover:

  • Catalog and pricing: list supported TLDs, and get TLD or per-domain pricing
  • Availability: check single or bulk domain availability
  • Orders and purchases: buy domains (including in bulk) and fetch order status by ID
  • Transfers: retrieve auth codes, transfer domains in, and track transfer status
  • Management: renew domains, toggle auto-renewal, update nameservers, and fetch TLD-specific contact schemas

The legacy Domains API is now deprecated, with a sunset date of 2025-11-09. Anyone using the Vercel CLI for domain purchases, pricing, or availability needs to upgrade to v48.2.8 or later. Explore the API docs.
