Microsoft Decision-1 now available on AI Gateway

By Steven Van ·

Developers can classify text, route workflows and score responses with an AI Gateway API key, without a separate Azure account.

Applications using Vercel AI Gateway can now use Microsoft Decision-1 to classify support requests, select a workflow’s next step or assess an AI response against a rubric.

Questions with probabilities

Decision-1 answers typed questions about text: yes/no questions, choices among named categories and scores against an ordered set of criteria. Multiple questions can share the same input in one request.

Choice and score answers include probabilities for each option, allowing an application to decide when to act or send an uncertain result for review.

Access through AI Gateway

The announcement lists three ways to call the model: the AI SDK decision API, the OpenAI-compatible Decisions API and the TypeSafe-compatible API. Requests use the model name microsoft/microsoft-decision-1 and require only an AI Gateway API key, with no separate Azure account or deployment.

Decision calls appear in AI Gateway logs and count toward budgets alongside other model requests, keeping usage and cost tracking together.
