MCP server support on Vercel
By Steven Van ·
Vercel adds a Next.js template for deploying MCP servers and clients, with SSE and stateless HTTP transport support.
Vercel now supports deploying MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, as well as MCP clients that call them. A new package, @vercel/mcp-adapter, is available to simplify building MCP servers on Vercel, supporting both the older SSE transport and the newer stateless HTTP transport used with OAuth. To get started, Vercel published a Next.js MCP template that can be cloned and deployed directly.
The template's example server uses the Vercel MCP Adapter to add an MCP server to a group of routes in any Next.js project. Using the SSE transport requires attaching a Redis instance to the project, and Fluid compute should be enabled for efficient execution; Pro and Enterprise accounts can raise maxDuration to 800 when using Fluid compute. The template also ships a sample client script for testing invocations.
This is a Vercel template announcement.
