Limit on-demand concurrent builds to one build per branch

By Steven Van ·

Vercel adds an option to queue same-branch deployments and build only the latest one, skipping stale queued builds.

On-demand concurrent builds normally let each new deployment start building right away, skipping the queue. Vercel now lets projects cap that at one active build per branch instead. With the option enabled, deployments to the same branch queue up behind the active build; once it finishes, only the most recent queued deployment starts, and any older ones in that queue are skipped. Builds on different branches can still run concurrently. The setting is available in project Build and Deployment settings, as described in the changelog.
