Kimi K3.1 Pro and Kimi K3.1 Pro Highspeed are available now in AI Gateway

Moonshot AI's K3.1 Pro and a faster Highspeed variant keep the 1M-token context window, with open weights planned by November 4.
Kimi K3.1 Pro from Moonshot AI is now available on Vercel AI Gateway, along with Kimi K3.1 Pro Highspeed, a faster version meant for interactive use. K3.1 Pro is the first model in Moonshot's K3.1 series. It builds on Kimi K3 with improvements in coding, 3D modeling, financial analysis and agentic tasks, and it keeps the 1M-token context window and image input. The details are in Vercel's announcement.
What the model is meant for
- Coding: work ranging from small fixes in an existing codebase to building a full project, including long agent runs with many steps.
- Front-end: pages and interactive scenes with stronger typography and animation than earlier Kimi models.
- Finance: carrying a task from start to finish, such as building a linked financial model with adjustable assumptions and scenarios, or writing research grounded in source documents.
- Accuracy: fewer factual errors than earlier Kimi models on difficult prompts.
Calling the models
Both models work through the AI SDK, the Chat Completions, Responses and Anthropic Messages APIs, or a coding agent connected to AI Gateway. Use moonshotai/kimi-k3.1-pro as the model name, or moonshotai/kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed for Highspeed. The example in the release note passes moonshotai/kimi-k3.1-pro to streamText from the AI SDK.
To use either model in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and similar agents, install the latest Vercel CLI and run npx vercel ai-gateway setup, then select the model in the agent. A model playground page is also available for trying K3.1 Pro.
Open weights
Moonshot AI plans to release the model weights by November 4, and support for more providers will follow.
